In 2003 David commissioned North London architects UllmayerSylvester to design a low cost summerhouse and studio for the bottom of his Hackney garden. The building was subsequently featured in national and international press, magazines and on TV, and won several design awards. Over nine hundred people visited the Summerhouse when it was opened to the public during London Open House in 2004 and 2005. The structure currently functions as David’s studio.
